Privacy Policy — Platenook

Effective date: October 19, 2026 · App: Platenook (Android, package com.tanzsoft.platenook) · Developer: TanzSoft

Platenook is a calorie counter, weight-trend and intermittent-fasting diary. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics or tracking libraries. This policy explains exactly what leaves your phone and why.

Your diary stays on your phone

Meals, portions, nutrition totals, weigh-ins, water, fasts, your profile (sex for the energy formula, year of birth, height, weight, goal, activity level) and the foods you create are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. We do not have a server copy and cannot see this data.

Android's own device backup (Google backup or device-to-device transfer) may include this app data if you have that turned on in your phone settings; that backup is handled by Google under your Google account. You can also save a backup file or a CSV spreadsheet yourself — it is written only to the place you choose.

Photo and text estimates (optional)

When you choose to estimate a meal from a photo or from a typed description, the app sends only that photo (resized to at most 1024 pixels) or that text, your app language and a random app ID to our server (tanzsoft.com). The server asks an AI model to identify the food and estimate the portion and nutrition, and returns the answer to the app.

Barcode lookups (optional)

When you scan a barcode, the scanning is done by Google's code scanner on your phone (the app itself has no camera permission). Only the barcode number is then sent to Open Food Facts (world.openfoodfacts.org), a public, non-profit food database, to look up the product's name and nutrition. No other data is sent. A product you add is saved in "My foods" on your phone so later scans work offline.

Nutrition data built into the app

The food lists inside the app come from public databases (Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Japan MEXT Standard Tables of Food Composition, USDA FoodData Central). They are read locally; searching them sends nothing anywhere.

Permissions

PermissionWhy
InternetOnly for the optional photo/text estimates and barcode lookups described above.
NotificationsOnly if you turn on meal, weigh-in or fasting reminders.
Run at startupTo set your reminders again after the phone restarts.

Platenook does not request camera, location, contacts, microphone, storage or health-sensor permissions. Photos are taken with your camera app or picked with Android's photo picker, which share only the one image you choose.

What we do not do

Health information and age

Platenook is a food and weight diary. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition. It is intended for adults (18+). Under 18, the app does not set weight-loss targets.

Deleting your data

Use Settings › Your data › Delete all data, or uninstall the app. Because we do not hold your diary, there is nothing to delete on our side; photo and text requests are not stored. Quota counters keyed by the random app ID expire after 2 days.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
