Sweepnook
Sweepnook helps you check a hotel room, a rental, a restroom or a fitting room for hidden cameras. It walks you through five checks in order and tells you plainly what each one can find and what it cannot.
No app can promise that a room has no camera, and Sweepnook does not pretend to. It shows what was checked, what was not, and what to look at next. No ads, no account, no subscription.
What each check can and cannot find
| Check | Can find | Cannot find |
|---|---|---|
| Devices on the Wi‑Fi | Cameras and recorders on the network you joined that answer camera discovery or offer a video stream. Each mark comes with its reason. | Cameras that record only to a memory card, use mobile data, sit on another network, or are switched off. Many hotel networks hide devices from each other. |
| Nearby wireless signals | Cameras that broadcast their own Wi‑Fi (often while waiting for setup) or announce a camera name over Bluetooth. | Devices that hide their name or use an ordinary one. |
| Infrared lights | Night‑vision cameras whose infrared lights are on in a dark room. You first test your phone with a TV remote. | Cameras without infrared lights, which includes most tiny pinhole cameras. |
| Lens reflections | Uncovered lenses facing you, as small glints that appear only while the flashlight is on. | Lenses behind dark plastic or turned away. Glass, metal and water drops glint too. |
| Places to look | Whatever your own eyes find, with a checklist of the usual hiding places. | What nobody looks at. |
The magnetic sensor is included only as a side tool. It reacts to magnets, speakers and steel, not to cameras.
Your data stays on your phone
No account and no analytics. Scan results and history are stored only on your device. The camera view is never saved or sent. The internet permission is used only to talk to devices on your local network. The Wi‑Fi check only asks devices to identify themselves; it never tries passwords and never opens a video stream.
If you find a camera
Do not touch it. Take photos of it and of the room, cover it or leave, and call the police. Tell the booking service you used.
